SAVING FACE (2004) DIR. ALICE WU
A romantic comedy about a Chinese American lesbian romance with a happy ending. Explores the preoccupation with reputation and ‘saving face’ in Chinese communities, and the alienation faced by those who do not follow the lifestyle expected of them. The director herself is a Chinese American lesbian, and drew inspiration from many of her own experiences.
